Te Aratika High School is an innovative new charter school established by Te Aratika Group and approved by the New Zealand Government to deliver a distinctive, kaupapa Māori learning pathway.
Opening in 2026, Te Aratika High School represents the next evolution of Te Tūāpapa o te Panoni – Providing a Platform for Change. The kura will be a co-educational composite school, beginning with Years 7–10 in 2026, and phasing in Years 11–13 in 2027. This school is in addition to our existing Te Aratika Academy boys’ only secondary school for year levels 9-13, located in the Hawkes Bay.
The kura is designed to empower taiohi Māori through education, supporting their aspirations with an individualised approach that helps them progress their goals throughout their time at TAHS and beyond – whether in employment, further education, or entrepreneurial ventures.
This is achieved through kaupapa Māori pedagogical approaches that deliver mātauranga Māori within an English-medium context – a unique model of learning that distinguishes Te Aratika High School within the takiwā.
Expressions of Interest are now open for those wishing to contribute to this kaupapa – as future students or kaimahi – we’d love to hear from you.
